This year’s Navroze celebration held special significance for the Zoroastrian Association of Victoria (ZAV), as it marked a major step forward in the community’s long-standing dream—establishing a dedicated Community Centre and Dadgah in Melbourne, lovingly referred to as “a place of our own.” Thanks to a generous AUD 100,000 pledge by the Mistry Family, representing the 4th World Zoroastrian Youth Congress (WZYC) Committee, this cherished vision is now closer to becoming a reality, sparking renewed hope and enthusiasm across the community.
The festive celebrations took place at the grand Collingwood Town Hall, which came alive with the warmth of tradition and camaraderie. Adorned with an elegant Haft-e-Sheen table and themed ‘Jamva Chalo Ji’, the evening was a delightful mix of cultural expression, entertainment and culinary indulgence. The highlight of the night was the spirited performance by the community’s children and couples. The young performers stole the show with a heartwarming skit and confidently strutted down the runway in traditional attire, cheered on by onlookers. Adding glamour to the evening, Bawa couples showcased classic Parsi fashion with style and grace.
A delectable Parsi lagan-nu-bhonu, catered by Pazban Caterers followed by an exciting raffle gifting a Gara saree as the grand prize, concluded the memorable night celebrating culture, community, and the promise of a brighter future.
