Fun-Fuelled Learning At WZO Trust Funds Summer Camp

The WZO Trust Funds kicked off a vibrant Summer Camp, from 3rd to 6th May, 2025, at Navsari’s Bai Dosibai Kotwal Parsi Boys Orphanage. Bringing together 33 spirited Zoroastrian kids, from ages 9 to 17 years, comprising 17 boys and 16 girls, the event blended fun with learning, creating unforgettable memories for the young participants.

Each morning commenced with prayers at 8:00 am at the Dadgah, followed by informative religious insights by Bakhtawar Minocherhomji, setting a positive and spiritual tone for the day ahead. The camp offered a wide range of educational and creative activities designed to engage children and equip them with practical skills. Professor Sagar Gandhi conducted interactive workshops demonstrating how to transform everyday waste materials into beautiful and useful items. Students learned to create flowers, showpieces, photo frames etc., using materials like onion and maize peels, matchsticks and coconut shells.

Financial literacy with Professor Hufriz Deboo educated the campers on money management via an effective slideshow presentation, instilling valuable financial habits from an early age. Artistic skills flourished under the guidance of Mr. and Mrs. Jamshed Jilla, who taught the children how to make traditional rangoli designs and prepare chowks. The kids also learned the process of making kasti from unn katvanu (cotton processing) to weaving and final preparation. A rangoli and chowk competition was held with prizes awarded to winners.

Pearl Contractor captivated the children with a visual presentation on table etiquette, general manners, and grooming, followed by fun games and ramp walks that delighted the campers. The children also showcased their creativity by preparing and performing skits, demonstrating remarkable teamwork and confidence in a short span of time. Daily nutritious meals, including breakfast, lunch, and snacks, were lovingly prepared and served by Mrs. Sunnu Kasad.

Parents expressed heartfelt appreciation for the camp with special thanks extended to the WZO Trust team, and particularly to Dinshaw and Bachi Tamboly, for organizing such enriching camps every year.
