PRESS RELEASE

A document issued on the letter head and under the signature of one Mr. Nariman Jehangirji Contractor dated 27th May 2025 has been doing the rounds on whats app and other media. A copy of the same is being reproduced below for ready reference.

From the contents of the press statement, it appears that Mr. Contractor seems to be very concerned about what he perceives to be a “sale” of the Parsee Cyclist Sports Club. He has attributed mala fides to the office bearers of the club. Unfortunately, he has falsely named the undersigned as the Treasurer of the club. This is to inform the public at large that the undersigned is not the Treasurer of the Parsee Cyclist Sports Club, nor has he ever been so in the past. The club is an unregistered association, to which the undersigned has been providing pro bono professional services as a practicing Chartered Accountant, by assisting the club in drawing up its accounts and filing its tax returns, without charging any professional fees whatsoever. For that purpose the undersigned has been made a committee member. However, the extent of the relationship of the undersigned with the club is purely professional, and he is in no manner involved in the administration of the affairs of the club, either currently or at any point of time in the past.

Mr. Contractor’s press statement falsely states that the undersigned (along with other named persons) has “sold” the club. This is completely false. The undersigned is not involved with the day to day affairs of the club and is not aware of any alleged sale of the club, nor has he been involved in any manner with any decisions or actions regarding the same.

Mr. Contractor’s press statement further states that “We got in touch with the Treasurer, as others were unreachable, to get some details regarding the sale. We were informed by the Treasurer that he has been advised not to share any information on this subject.”. This statement is intentionally misleading and mala fide. Neither Mr. Contractor nor Mr. Dadachandji have ever spoken to the undersigned. Mr. Contractor’s son Hoshedar telephoned the undersigned on 10th May 2025, when the undersigned clarified that he is not the Treasurer of the club and is not aware of any sale of the club. Mr. Hoshedar Contractor again called the undersigned on 15th May 2025 who informed him that he would not be able to reveal any details regarding the club to any third party as he is bound by professional – client confidentiality obligations. Mr. Contractor has twisted these words in the press statement to create a false impression in the mind of the public that the undersigned is in some manner trying to hide something nefarious.

Upon becoming aware of the wide circulation of the aforesaid press statement through what’s app and other media, the undersigned immediately issued a letter dated 29th May 2025 to Mr. Contractor, clarifying the above, and calling upon Mr. Contractor to publicly clarify and correct the misstatements in his press statement regarding the undersigned.

Therefore, by way of abundant caution, the undersigned is issuing the present public statement to clarify what has been stated above, and to inform the public at large not to fall prey to patently incorrect statements regarding the undersigned as contained in Mr. Contractor’s press statement dated 27th May 2025.
