Vastu For Washrooms, Garage And Storage
In Vastu Shastra, every part of your home contributes to the overall energy balance, including areas often overlooked, like washrooms, toilets, garages and storage spaces. These zones are crucial as they often act as energy drains, if not properly cared for. Let’s understand their significance and explore easy-to-follow remedies that suit both spacious homes and compact city apartments.
Bathrooms and Toilets – The Energy Drainers
Bathrooms and toilets are zones of waste disposal and are directly linked with energy release. If their placement or maintenance is misaligned, it can lead to financial leaks, chronic health issues or persistent negative emotions in the home.
Vastu Tips for Bathrooms and Toilets:
Ideal Location: Bathrooms are best placed in the North-West or West part of the home. These directions support natural movement and disposal. Avoid placing them in the North-East, which is linked to clarity, wisdom, and divine energy.
Keep the Door Closed: Always keep bathroom/toilet doors shut to avoid energy drainage into key living areas. This is especially important if toilets are adjacent to kitchens or bedrooms.
Cleanliness is Key: Make sure the bathroom is always clean, dry, and well-ventilated. Damp, dirty, or musty bathrooms lower the overall vibration of the house and impact health.
Copper Strip OR Rock Salt Remedy: If your bathroom opens directly into a bedroom or living space, or is in a challenging direction, you can place a flat copper strip (1-inch wide) under the door threshold to neutralize harsh energy entering the house. Alternatively, place a bowl of rock salt just inside the bathroom, preferably in a corner. Rock salt absorbs negative energy and is a simple yet powerful Vastu remedy. Change the salt every 7 – 10 days.
Fix Leakages Immediately: Leaky faucets or running toilets are symbolic of financial losses or energy drains. Fix any plumbing issues promptly.
Choose Uplifting Colours: Light colours like mint green, baby blue, off-white, or soft grey work well. Avoid deep or muddy tones that feel heavy or stagnant.
Garage – The Movement Zone
The garage isn’t just a space to park vehicles – it symbolizes movement, protection and external opportunities in life. If poorly maintained, it can cause stagnation or delays in progress.
Vastu Tips for Garages:
Ideal Location: The garage is best placed in the North-West or South-East part of the property. Avoid placing it in the North-East or South-West.
Keep It Organized: A cluttered garage creates energetic blockages. Ensure that tools, vehicle parts, and other items are neatly arranged and functional.
Maintain Good Lighting: Poor lighting leads to a dull and heavy atmosphere. Use bright white or warm lighting to keep the space vibrant.
Appropriate Colours: Use light grey, beige, or soft yellow for the garage walls. These shades help keep the energy light and positive.
Declutter Regularly: Avoid turning the garage into a dumping zone. Clear out unnecessary items that haven’t been used in months to keep the energy moving.
Storage Areas – Holding Emotional Weight
Storage spaces act like energetic memory banks, holding onto both material and emotional baggage. If cluttered, these contribute to emotional stress, mental fog or blockages in personal growth.
Vastu Tips for Storage Spaces:
Direction Matters: Store heavier items in the South, West, or South-West directions. These directions can absorb and stabilize weight better than others.
Avoid Storage in North-East: This area should remain as open and light as possible. Storage here hampers clarity, focus, and spiritual energy.
Keep Things Sorted: Use boxes, bins, or labelled containers to avoid visual chaos. Piles of unorganized items create stuck energy.
Remove What No Longer Serves You: Discard broken or unused objects that carry stagnant or past energy. If it hasn’t been used in a year, it’s probably time to let it go.
Add Light: Even a small light source can energize a storage space. It signals to the subconscious that the area is cared for and not ignored.
These simple practices are designed to harmonize the natural flow of energy in your space, no matter how big or small your home is. Some changes may be immediate, like clearing clutter or placing a bowl of rock salt. Others, like repairing plumbing or shifting the direction of activity zones, might take a little more time and planning. After implementing changes, allow a period of three to six months for the new dynamics to settle. Even modest environmental adjustments can progressively enhance mood, improve communication and foster a greater sense of calm.
