The New Year is bound to be a year of learning. There’s been chaos and fear, the world is going through a shift. Amid global conflicts and unprecedented losses, humanity has endured. While change is gradual, life offers a beacon of hope: new beginnings. They remind us to cherish progress, embrace fresh starts, and remain grateful despite adversity. Though challenges persist, each step forward strengthens our resolve, much like learning to walk before we can run. Today, renewed hope lights our path with optimism.
This year marks the advent of all hope, so chase your dreams and cherish those who make your world go round. Let this year be about all the adventures you’ve put off. This time round, do not put off that trip to Cambodia or Vietnam you’ve been talking of, forever. Don’t let the future be something you need to ride at a later date. Rein in the present! It’s your time, so do not let that clock stop you! Life is an opportunity but most importantly life is a choice – it’s about how we choose the play the cards we’ve been dealt.
As Parsis let’s infuse our lives with joy, faith and hope, but most of all, with laughs and good humour, always the better part of our inherent nature. This New Year celebrate big and hold on tight. Hug your friends, squeeze those lemons out of your life. Have that Raspberry while it lasts. Remember, Mangola and Gingerade went out of production, without the community being warned or prepared for such rogue events. It is a happy talent to know how to be playful at all times. We are born into a community that has taught us this well. We have learned to embrace life’s treacherous pitfalls by taking it on the chin. Or rather, should we say nose… our patrician nose, inherited from our gene pool, which in some cases, could even have its own pin code!
Talk to a Bawa from a Baug and you know the problems he faces on a daily basis. Mornings are heated conversations with neighbours, even if only about the paucity of water, hardly filling his overhead tanks. Evenings are all about scouting the perimeter of the Baug, for that perfect parking spot somewhere convenient, somewhere safe, where his pride and joy – his vehicle – spends the night.
Us Parsis believe in living life king size. We are known for our unparalleled sense of humour, peculiar traits and our unique style and certainly the pizazz to carry it. Our idiosyncrasies and our quirkiness is our very own brand! We are an easy- going, tolerant bunch, genial and kind, except when we are not! A ‘Hangry Bawa’ is not someone you contend with over that last piece of faarcha! All tolerance flies out the window instantaneously. Quick-witted and sharp we are too, as long as we stick to our Queen’s English. Try speaking to one in Marathi or even Hindi and you’ll know what I mean! A natural comedy of sorts! We think positive and we live positive, that’s just who we are!
So, this New Year, let happiness abound. Renew your journey with gusto as the roads you seek can be reconstructed from the mistakes of the past, with lessons learnt, but only by keeping the faith and hope alive. We’ve all been given 365 days alike, but what you choose to do with those, count, with maybe a little introspection, some inner engineering and a whole bunch of fun!
