From Injury To Glory: Khurshid Mistry Shines Silver!

After a two-year break caused by a severe knee injury, veteran runner and sprinter, Khurshid Mistry, made a stunning comeback at the Mumbai Half Marathon 2025 (10 km) on 17th August, 2025, clinching the silver medal in her age category.

“It was raining continuously during the race and water puddles made it a little difficult to run. I was not expecting to get a podium finish since I started my training only 2 months back, and that too only for 2 to 3 days a week!” gushed Khurshid.

Even during her recovery from running, she excelled in swimming, bagging three golds at the 7th National Masters Games in Rourkela earlier this year. In 2024, she struck gold thrice at the National Masters Swimming Championship in Nashik, alongside victories at the Maharashtra State Masters Games in freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke.

“I was not willing to give up running and was adamant to run again. Now I will continue running as well as swimming on a competitive basis. But I have to still be careful about my knee as I cannot put too much pressure on it,” she shared.

A powerhouse of talent, Khurshid balances her professional career in the financial sector with her passion for athletics. Her record is staggering – over ten Half Marathon titles, gold medals in six state and five national Masters Meets, a gold in the Asian Masters Athletic Meet, five golds at the International Meet in Brunei, and multiple medals in Malaysia. She also holds a Guinness World Record for her win at the Satara Hill Marathon and was honoured as ‘Best Female Athlete’ at the National Corporate Championships (2015).

At 44, Khurshid Mistry has turned a setback into a stunning comeback. Her silver finish is proof that resilience fuels greatness, and that champions are defined not by age or injury, but by the will to keep going.
