Continuing its legacy of compassionate care and clinical excellence, Masina Hospital, Mumbai’s oldest private charitable multi-speciality institution, was awarded the prestigious ‘Excellence in Legacy & Impact – Century of Service Recognition in Healthcare’, on 24^th July, 2025, at the Times Network’s ET NOW Business Conclave and Awards 2025. The award was presented by State Minister for Fisheries and Ports Development – Nitesh Rane to Khushrow Major, CEO, Masina Hospital and the Masina Hospital team, recognising their enduring contribution to healthcare over the past 123 years.

Speaking on the proud occasion, Khushrow Major shared, “This honour reflects more than a century of service rooted in compassion, integrity and medical innovation. I accept it on behalf of our incredible doctors, nurses, trustees and every team member who upholds the Masina mission each day.” Dr. Gustad Daver, Trustee and Surgeon, added, “Masina Hospital’s legacy isn’t just about longevity, it’s about continuously adapting, serving and remaining a sanctuary for those who seek affordable yet advanced care.”

Managing Trustee Homi Katgara remarked, “Our commitment has been to ensure that every rupee contributed by our generous donors is channelled transparently into expanding access and upgrading infrastructure. Awards like these are a reflection of that enduring trust.”

Founded in 1902 in the former Sans Souci Palace of philanthropist David Sassoon, Masina Hospital stands as a symbol of Parsi philanthropy and inclusive healthcare. Transformed into a hospital by the visionary Dr. Hormusji Manekji Masina, it has pioneered several medical firsts including India’s first hospital X-ray unit (1924), first Open-heart surgery (1949), and Mumbai’s first Neonatal ICU (1969).

Today, Masina Hospital continues to thrive, being ranked among Mumbai and Western India’s top hospitals by the Times of India and Midday Health Surveys 2025. It was also honoured with the titles ‘Best Hospital in Western India’ and ‘Best Hospital for 120+ Years of Healthcare Excellence’.
