The Zarthoshti Anjumanna Atash Behram, the youngest Atash Behram in India, which was enthroned on October 17, 1897 (Roj Ardibehesht, Mah Ardibehesht; YZ 1267), celebrated its glorious 128th anniversary on 16th September, 2025.  Beautiful chowks at the entrance of the recently renovated building and fresh, sweet scented, thick waterlily rope torans with multi-coloured roses tucked in, bedecked the entrance arches of the building and the sanctum, adorning every frame within the Atash Behram, lending a festive look for the occasion. Situated at Dhobi Talao in Mumbai, the building has a striking resemblance to the Takht-e-Jamshed in Persepolis, Iran. The chamber and the inner sanctum are perfect squares.

On this auspicious day, a Maachi was offered by the Trust to Padshah Saheb in the Havan Geh. This was followed by two Jashans – one at 9.30 am and the other at 5.00 pm. held in the hall on the first floor, which were very well attended by over 100 devotees, despite the heavy rains.

For generations now, the Jamaspasa Gadi has dedicated their lives to ensuring the holy fire burns bright. Dasturji Dr. Jamasp Kaikhusroo JamaspAsa (Vada Dasturji of the Atash Behram) in his mellifluous voice led about 35 priests in prayer, as the Zoatar of the Jashans. On invitation, Dasturji Dr. Firoze M. Kotwal, Dasturji Kaikhushroo Meherjirana and Dasturji Tehemton Mirza also graced the occasion and took part in the Jashan ceremonies, as also Er. Zarrir Bhandara – Head Priest of ZAC Atash-kadeh; and Er. Mehbad Dastur – NAMC Secretary, Toronto. A humbandagi was recited by all after each Jashan.

After the morning Jashan, Dr. Burjor H. Antia welcomed all and apprised the gathering of the various activities of the Atash Behram and briefed the community of the financial activities for the year ended March 2025. The Atash Behram was founded by the community for the community, made possible through generous contributions from congregations across India, as well as donors from China and Persia. Mr. Jimmy D. Kelawala, executor to the estate of late Mr. Jal Hormasji Sethna was felicitated after the Jashan, for donating a generous sum of Rs. 3 crores as per the Will of the deceased.  A box comprising light refreshments was served to the gathering.
