The Surat Parsi Panchayat, in collaboration with ZWAS (Zoroastrian Women’s Association of Surat), hosted a thought-provoking religious lecture titled, ‘Importance of Prayers Leading to the Path of Happiness’, on 28th September, 2025, at Antonia Dharamshala. The keynote speaker, renowned Zoroastrian scholar, Khojeste Mistree from Mumbai, shared profound insights into the power of prayers, the essence of the Zoroastrian faith and the path to inner happiness.
The event, anchored by Farrokh Chichgar and chaired by Dasturji Er. Cyrus N Dastur, saw the presence of Dr. Homi Doodhwala, Padma Shri Yazdi Karanjia, Kersi Dorabji, and Prof. Engineer. The event commenced with a Humbandagi, followed by Khojeste Mistree’s engaging discourse on the history of Iran, the origins of Zoroastrianism, and the significance of the Parsi calendar, Gathas and Muktad. He explained the correct method of performing the kusti, the importance of proper pronunciation, and the spiritual strength derived from daily prayers, urging the recitation of five Yathas and three Ashems each day.
He further stressed that destiny is shaped by one’s own thoughts, words, and deeds, the journey of the soul and that true essence of the faith lies in living joyfully and spreading happiness. He also spoke about Sarosh Yazad’s protection of the soul and the importance of preserving the Muktad tradition. A day earlier, Mistree presented an insightful slide show on ‘Story of Iran’, exploring its rich history and cultural legacy.
The lecture was followed by a community meal, bringing the event to a close. The Surat Parsi Panchayat invites and hopes that those who missed the event would join other such future gatherings.
