YCZA 2.0: Reviving A Legacy, Inspiring A New Era

A cherished legacy was rekindled with the launch of YCZA 2.0, an alumni-led revival of the historic Young Collegians Zoroastrian Association founded in 1952 by the visionary Prof. Nadir Modi. Reimagined as a dynamic movement rooted in service, inclusivity, and community, YCZA 2.0 aims to empower future generations while paying tribute to its illustrious past. The initiative is supported by the Trustees of the YCZA Educational and Charitable Fund – Nawaz Modi Singhania, Kersi Commissariat, Farzana Doctor, Dr. Nozer Sheriar, Behroz Gazdar and Saroosh Dinshaw.

YCZA 2.0 will operate across six key verticals: Education Aid & Career Counselling; Medical Aid & Senior Citizen Welfare; Religious & Community Education; Singles & Youth Networking; Cultural & Entertainment Events; and Promoting Enterprising Youth & Mentorship.

The launch event held on 20th September, 2025, opened with a Jashan ceremony led by Er. Hormuz Dadachanji and Er. Porus Katrak, followed by heartfelt addresses by trustees and alumni. Zarine Commissariat shared nostalgic reflections on YCZA’s early days before introducing Nawaz Modi Singhania, daughter of Prof. Modi, who spoke movingly about her father’s lifelong dedication to service. She recalled how, at just 22, he transformed his home, Modi Lodge, into a hub of youth fellowship – guiding students, helping families secure homes and offering pro bono legal aid. Dr. Nozer Sheriar, son of Co-Founder Prof. Khurshed Sheriar, also shared memories of his YCZA journey.

The evening featured spirited musical performances by alumni, nostalgic renditions of classics, and lively duets celebrating enduring friendships. The energy soared on the dance floor, highlighted by 80-year-old Pinks Makhania dancing with infectious enthusiasm. Budding entrepreneur Spenta Mehta’s gourmet snack boxes and sweet treats from Hoshang Katgara and Rumi Merchant delighted attendees. Gratitude was extended to Jimmy Guard, CEO – Bai BS Bengallee Girl’s High School, and his team for their support.

With over 120 alumni reconnecting after decades, YCZA 2.0 guided by the motto: ‘Bridging Generations; Inspiring Futures’, is committed to reconnecting hearts, fostering talent and shaping a vibrant future for Zoroastrian youth and alumni.
