Amroli Agiary Celebrates 222nd Salgreh

The Amroli Agiary, located in Surat’s Amroli village, celebrated its glorious 222nd salgreh on 21st November, 2025 (Roj Adar, Mah Tir). It was attended by Trustees Zarin Amrolia, Khojeste Mistree, Meher Panthaki and Anahita Desai (former trustees included Faredoon Amrolia, Percy and late Yazdi Desai), alongside a good number of devotees. A Hama Anjuman Machi followed by a Khushali-nu-Jashan was performed by its diligent Panthaki Er. Kaizad F. Mandviwalla.

A small kebla houses the divine Atash Padshah placed in a large afarghanyu, adding to the divine and majestic feel of this quaint Agiary, which has retained its original, rustic look. Its 131-year-old stone flooring has witnessed and absorbed the vibrations of thousands of Atash Nyaishes. The highlight of the Amroli Agiary is its famed kua or ‘wishing-well’, believed to grant devotees’ wishes.

Speaking to Parsi Times, Anahita Desai shared, “This was a very special day for me as it coincided with my 38th wedding Anniversary and Amroli Agiary was very precious to my Yazdi. All us Trustees take great pride in retaining the original, rustic look of our quaint Agiary, which has been wonderfully maintained spiritually and structurally by our dedicated Panthaki Er. Kaizad Mandviwalla and his equally devoted family – wife Parizad, mother Dolly, fui Jaroo and daughters – Zenia and Pearl. All who visit the Agiary will vouch for their warm, welcoming hospitality. I urge everyone who visits Surat to come to our Agiary and seek the blessings of our glorious Padshah Saheb.”

The Agiary flourishes under the dedicated and thoughtful stewardship of Panthaky Er. Kaizad and his family. As the third generation devoted to serving the Padshah Saheb, Er. Kaizad upholds a legacy of unwavering commitment and gracious hospitality. His father, the late Er. Farokh Ardeshar Mandviwalla, and grandfather, Er. Ardeshar Palanji Mandviwalla, served faithfully since 1960, earning the admiration of all visitors.

The Amroli Agiary was first consecrated on 24th November, 1803, by the illustrious businessman and philanthropist, Hormusji Bomanji Wadia, in memory of his beloved wife, Meherbai. In 1837, his sons – Seth Bomanjee ‘Bawa’, Seth Ardesar and Seth Rustomjee, co-financed a newer structure, inaugurated on 30th October, 1837. Later, on 2nd December, 1893, Seth Kanjibhai Dorabji Mithaiwala reconstructed the Adarian, marked by a grand ceremony, attended by over 700 Parsis. Twenty consecrated fires were ritually enthroned upon a German-silver censer, which continues to be used to this day. Sustained through generous community contributions, the Dar-e-Mehr was eventually entrusted to the Amroli Anjuman.

Located just a short, 30-minute drive from Surat station, Zarthostis are encouraged to visit the serene Amroliwala Agiary and experience its profound spiritual energy and heartfelt hospitality, lovingly upheld by the Mandviwalla family. (For Details: 9374998829 / 9375980442).
