Indian-origin Zoroastrian entrepreneur, Mira Mehta – Co-founder and CEO of Nigeria-based agribusiness Tomato Jos, has been recognised by Bloomberg New Economy as part of its prestigious 2025 ‘Catalyst’ class – a select group of global entrepreneurs, scientists and innovators driving inclusive and sustainable growth worldwide. Founded in 2014, Tomato Jos boosts Nigeria’s tomato sector by empowering farmers, improving yields, reducing losses and producing local value-added products.
Mira’s recognition celebrates her decade-long pioneering work in transforming West Africa’s tomato supply chain by building a thriving agribusiness that empowers small-holder farmers, improving how tomatoes are cultivated, processed and marketed. By addressing issues of perishability and inefficiency, she has created a model that brings prosperity to those at the grassroots of agriculture while strengthening food systems across the region.
With degrees from Brown University and Harvard Business School, Mira Mehta previously worked in finance and healthcare in New York and Nigeria before moving permanently to Nigeria in 2008. She has since been building a business that fuses innovation with empathy. Recipient of the 2020 WZCC Young Zarathushti Award, Mira Mehta exemplifies how purpose-driven leadership uplifts both, people and economies.
