Powerhouse Athlete Khurshid Mistry Strikes Gold

Ace veteran athlete – Khurshid Mistry has once again demonstrated sporting brilliance by clinching first place at the Indian Oil WMC Navy Half Marathon 2025 (10 kms), in her age category. The race, held on 23rd November, 2025, in South Mumbai, witnessed participation from hundreds of seasoned runners, further showcasing Khurshid’s commendable return to peak competitive form, after being forced into a two-year break due to a severe knee injury.

Khurshid emerged stronger than ever, despite battling severe stomach cramps through the run, pushing through with unwavering resilience to cross the finish line in first place. Her win adds another milestone to her outstanding athletic career and follows her impressive comeback at the Mumbai Half Marathon earlier, in August, where she won second place.

Extending her athletic journey beyond the track, Khurshid ventured successfully into competitive swimming. In October 2025, she won two gold medals (50-metre breaststroke and backstroke categories) at the National Veterans Sports and Games Championship, in Surat. Within just a year of taking up the sport, she has already won titles at three national and one state-level competitions, showcasing her versatility and commitment to mastering diverse disciplines.

Her track record over the past 15 years is exceptional – bagging gold medals at 13 state-level and 13 national-level Masters Athletic Meets in sprint events; representing India at numerous international championships and earning an impressive tally of medals, including multiple gold wins at international meets across Malaysia, Brunei, Bangkok, New Zealand and Dubai. Khurshid has completed over 69 half marathons and 10 km races since 2012, and she has been honoured six times with the ‘All-Parsees Best Athlete of the Year Award’. Other prestigious accolades include the Shakti Award, Alfa Lifetime Achievement Award, Woman of the Year Award, Super Athlete Award and Excellence in Sports recognition, from various institutions including Rotary Club, Reliance, ZTFE and others.

Khurshid’s mantra for success is dedication, discipline and determination. Speaking with Parsi Times, Khurshid shares, “Fitness is freedom. Every finish line reminds me that the human body can achieve amazing things when guided by discipline, consistency and belief. I hope more members of our community prioritise health and make fitness a part of everyday life. Age should never be a barrier to staying active.”
