Championing Youth And Community: Hoshaang Gotla Unveils The Vision Driving ‘XYZ Xtravaganza’

For over a decade, the XYZ (Xtremely Young Zoroastrians) Foundation has stood at the forefront of nurturing the next generation of our community, emerging as one of its most dynamic and impactful non-profit initiatives. Dedicated to the holistic social, cultural and character development of Parsi youth, XYZ has consistently empowered our tots and teens, and now even our young-hearted silvers, through a diverse calendar of activities – from leadership camps, workshops and seminars, to creative contests, community service drives and social outreach programmes.

Parsi Times is proud to have partnered with XYZ as Media Partner on numerous key initiatives over the years. It has been inspiring and deeply gratifying to witness the transformative difference XYZ continues to make, instilling in our young community members a sense of pride in our heritage as well as a profound sense of responsibility toward society at large.

As XYZ Foundation marks its milestone 11th year and readies up for ‘XYZ Xtravaganza’ – its grand finale and flagship fund-raising event of 2025, Parsi Times catches up with the charismatic Hoshaang Gotla, Founder – XYZ Foundation, to reflect on its inspiring journey, unveil what this year’s grand event promises… and what lies ahead.

Parsi Times: As a starting point, could you share with our readers the vision behind Xtremely Young Zoroastrians (XYZ) and the core values that define its purpose?

Hoshaang Gotla: XYZ is an organisation committed to fostering unity, bonding and fellowship within the Parsi community. Our core mission is to mould our children into responsible, compassionate and confident individuals by instilling strong values through fun and activities which are teamwork-oriented and service-driven.

PT: That’s lovely! Could you walk us through the structure of the XYZ family and its different age groups?

Hoshaang Gotla: Absolutely! Today, XYZ proudly has a family of over 750 members. Our main group is the XYZ Kids, aged 7 – 15 years. For the younger lot below 7, we have XYZ Juniors, and for youth aged 15 – 25, we run XYZ Seniors. This year, we are excited to launch a brand-new segment, ‘XYZ Silvers’ – exclusively for members above 55 years. They will enjoy specially curated events, and we will also host inter-generational activities where Silvers and youngsters participate together.

PT: That’s impressive! Could you give us an overview of the activities XYZ conducts?

Hoshaang Gotla: Leadership development is at the heart of XYZ. We focus on vital life skills such as goal setting, decision-making, teamwork, people management, financial responsibility and ethical behaviour. To nurture these skills, we organise a wide range of activities – sports (both indoor and outdoor), athletic meets, literary and fine arts events, cooking contests, talent showcases, summer camps, leadership camps and more. Every age group has opportunities to participate, learn and grow.

PT: XYZ is known for its emphasis on community service. Could you elaborate on that?

Hoshaang Gotla:  Service is a core pillar of XYZ. It’s deeply aligned with the values of our Zoroastrian faith. We continuously encourage our members to develop an ‘Attitude of Gratitude’. Our social service efforts support NGOs, orphanages, old-age homes, street children, differently abled individuals, animals and more. We often say that XYZ is truly MADMaking A Difference.

PT: What’s next on the calendar for XYZ?

Hoshaang Gotla:  We’re thrilled about our upcoming mega-event – the ‘XYZ Xtravaganza’, an inter-group dance competition taking place on 20th December, 2025, at KC College Auditorium, Churchgate, starting 5:30 pm. This year’s theme is Indo-Western. Importantly, the event is a fundraiser, and all proceeds go towards supporting senior citizens and old-age homes.

PT: How can individuals and organisations support this initiative?

Hoshaang Gotla: There are many meaningful ways to contribute – event sponsorships, souvenir advertisements, donor passes, lucky-dip coupon purchases, or gifting prizes. We truly appreciate when people spread the word among their family and friends. Additionally, all donations made through XYZ Foundation are eligible for a 50% tax exemption under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, making it easier for well-wishers to support the cause.

PT: Thank you, Hoshaang, for sharing these insights into XYZ’s remarkable journey and upcoming plans. We wish you every success for the XYZ Xtravaganza and all future initiatives.

Hoshaang Gotla:  Thank you, Parsi Times, for your continued support. We value our association and look forward to having you as our Media Partner always!
