LKPZA’s 125th Anniversary Celebrates Faith And Fellowship

Fun, fellowship and a proud sense of heritage marked a memorable evening as the Lonavala Khandala Parsi Zoroastrian Anjuman (LKPZA) celebrated its 125th anniversary on 7th February, 2026, at the historic Adenwala Agiary Compound, in Lonavala. The annual function drew 278 guests from Lonavala, Pune and Mumbai, bringing together generations of the community in a warm and festive atmosphere.

The celebrations were organised by the dynamic and dedicated LKPZA Trustees – Sam Choksey, Adi Banajee, Bapsy Banajee, Adi Mehta, Capt. Percy Master, Arin Master, and Behram Dhabbar. During the introductions, Capt. Percy Master recounted the Anjuman’s inspiring beginnings, when Zoroastrian locomotive engine drivers settled in the hill towns over a century ago and founded an institution dedicated to service and unity. Today, the Anjuman continues its charitable mission through educational, medical and poverty relief initiatives supported by income from its renovated guest house.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, LKPZA extended donations to several organisations including NAB Lions Home for the Aging Blind, Samwad Lonavala, Human Development Centre Trust’s Little Angels School and the International Women’s Association. Capt. Percy Master also highlighted the significance of the Adenwala Agiary, which houses two sacred fires – one local and one from Aden. He encouraged greater community participation, emphasizing that the strength of our faith rests upon the care with which we preserve our places of worship and the dignity we extend to our priests.

Er. Cyrus Tata and his mother Roshan Tata were felicitated for their dedicated care of the Agiary with a shawl and a donation. He praised them for their excellent care-taking and also thanked Sarosh Dinshaw for the use of the Agiary Compound.

The evening featured lively music by Brynhild Band and a well-received dinner catered by Bee’s Kitchen. The event concluded on a joyful note, reaffirming the Anjuman’s enduring role in nurturing community bonds and celebrating a prestigious legacy.
