Sustenance With Dignity: WZO Trust Funds’ Annual Drive Rekindles Hope Across Rural Communities

Reaffirming its commitment to community welfare, the WZO Trust Funds, successfully carried out its annual food grains and essentials distribution drive, during January and February, 2026, reaching more than 323 underprivileged families across 59 centres in rural Gujarat and parts of Maharashtra.

The large-scale initiative focused on remote and interior villages where access to basic necessities continues to remain a daily challenge. Recognizing this reality, The WZO Trust Funds organized a five-route distribution drive covering villages across Navsari District, Vansda and Dharampur talukas, Dadra and Nagar Haveli (UT), and parts of Palghar taluka (Maharashtra). Volunteers and Trustees travelled extensive distances to personally hand over relief kits, ensuring that assistance reached beneficiaries directly and with care. Their visits offered an opportunity to witness the resilience of families navigating financial hardship with dignity.

The smiles, folded hands of gratitude, and heartfelt blessings from elderly beneficiaries reflected the true impact of this initiative as not just relief, but renewed hope.

Each relief package was thoughtfully assembled to support a family for nearly four months. The kit included 15 kilograms of groundnut oil, 20 kilograms of tuvar dal, 15 kilograms of wheat, four varieties of pulses weighing five kilograms each, sugar, tea, toothpaste and toothbrushes, along with a comforter bed sheet, towels and napkins. Valued at approximately Rs. 9,000 per package, the kits were designed to provide both nourishment and essential household support.

For many families in these regions, such assistance translates into reduced financial stress and greater stability. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude through heartfelt blessings and quiet smiles, underscoring the impact of a programme that seeks to restore reassurance and dignity.

Speaking with Parsi Times, Mr. Dinshaw Tamboly, Chariman – WZO Trust Funds, shared, “Our mission goes beyond distribution – it is about standing with beneficiaries at their most vulnerable times. Every packet delivered carries not just food, but compassion. We remain steadfast in our commitment to serve our marginalized community members and expand our outreach to bring comfort, care, and dignity to those in need.”

WZO Trust Funds acknowledged the generous support of its donors, whose contributions made the initiative possible. Special appreciation was extended to The Zoroastrian Charity Funds of Hong Kong, Canton and Macao; Bai Maneckbai P B Jeejeebhoy Deed of Settlement Funds; World Zoroastrian Organisation, London; and Dr. Porus Turner, who has supported the dental component of the kits for over 25 years. Their sustained commitment continues to strengthen outreach efforts and expand the scale of assistance. The Trust also expressed gratitude to volunteers Sharmin Tamboly, Simin Bharda of Navsari and Hoshadar Parakh of Mumbai, who worked alongside the Navsari-based Trustees to execute the extensive distribution exercise efficiently.

The next phase of the drive is scheduled to commence by late February or early March. Approximately 600 economically challenged families in and around Mumbai and its suburbs will receive similar food grain packages, coordinated by volunteer Jimmy Gadiwalla.

Year after year, the WZO Trust Funds continues to serve with quiet determination and unwavering compassion. Its efforts extend far beyond the distribution of essentials. They represent a promise that no family will be forgotten and no struggle ignored. In villages where uncertainty often lingers, the Trust brings reassurance, stability and renewed faith. Through consistency, sincerity and service, it lights lamps of hope in hundreds of homes, proving that enduring commitment remains one of the greatest forms of charity.
