Asports meet was recently organised in Surat, at Sir Ratan Marshall play grounds, by the Parsi Pragati Mandal (PPM) and Zoroastrian Women’s Assembly Surat (ZWAS). Dynamic host, Mahrukh Chichgar rolled welcomed everyone, keeping the audience engaged and encouraging participants. Chief Guest, Anshul Kothari, a finalist at the Commonwealth Games and at the Asian Games, and winner of 21 international medals graced the event, was introduced by ZWAS President Mahazarin Variava. The event was also attended by Dr. Homi Doodhwala (President, SPP), alongside Trustees Padma Shri Yazdi Karanjia, Dr. Farzin Parabia, and Malcolm Pandol. Steel man of India, Jimmy Kharadi and Keshmira Kharadi also graced the occasion.

The torch was proudly lit by 6 champion torch bearers – Homyar Dotiwala (Roller Skating), Sanaya Morena (Volleyball), Aryana Parabia (Power lifting), Delfyrn Jogi(Table Tennis), Yazaan Variava  (Swimming) and Marezban Italia (Table tennis).The games unfolded in a true spirit of sportsmanship, with Anshul Kothari and other dignitaries inaugurating the event. The oath ceremony saw young participants proudly taking the pledge led by PPM President Daizy Patel.

The organising committee expressed gratitude to SPP for their constant support, as also toJamaspPatrawala, VirafVarachawala and referees for smooth coordination, with thanks to generous donors – Mr & Mrs. Jamshed Dotiwala, Mr.& Mrs. Jimmy Kharadi, Dara Mistry, Pearl and RayomandKharas, for a memorable and spirited Sports Day.
