Game On: ZPL Season 5 Unleashes Football Fever At Rustom Baug

The much-awaited fifth edition of the Zoroastrian Premier League (ZPL) is set to kick off at Rustom Baug Grounds, from 3rd April to 3rd May, 2026, bringing together the community’s passion for football, camaraderie and spirited competition. To be held every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, starting at 8:00 pm, the tournament continues to grow as the largest auction-styled football league within the Zoroastrian community. Parsi Times steps in as the exclusive media partner, elevating the League’s buzz and capturing its pulse with its unmatched reach and style.

Founded in 2019 by Zaara Dastur and Jeyhaan Carnac, ZPL has evolved into a dynamic sporting platform where franchise owners bid for players and build competitive teams using a structured auction format. With an annual franchise fee of Rs. 2,00,000 and an invitation-only ownership model, the league maintains a high standard of participation.

Out of ZPL 2026’s nearly 250 registered players, the top 150 have been selected to participate, representing cities including Mumbai, Pune, Surat and Dahanu, along with international participants from Oman and Dubai. The tournament reflects a strong blend of talent, discipline and community pride.

Adding to the experience is the ZPL mobile application, developed by Neil Carnac, which allows fans to track live scores, league standings and player statistics in real time. The app also features a fantasy league where users can create their own six-a-side teams and engage more closely with the tournament.

Past winners include Byculla United, Pink Panthers, Persian Pirates and Kingsmen, each contributing to the growing legacy of the league. This year, twelve franchises, backed by well-known community names, will compete across a 100-match league, with a total prize pool of Rs. 3,00,000. The teams (and owners) competing in ZPL 2026 include: Mavericks (Leah Tata); Byculla United (Gilan Ferzandi); Chemould Cavaliers (Adil Gandhy); Persian Pirates (Marzi Pestonji); Storm 11 (Rishad Byramjee); Pink Panthers (Viraf Mehta); Sterling FC (Delna Patel); Predators (Jeshad Dumasia); Peekay  Warriors  (Zorben  Zend) ;

Lions (Rustom Dehmiri and Shahram M); Kingsmen (Vivaana Chowdhry); and Super Strikers (Khoremand and Aryohn Irani)

Supported by sponsors WZO and Eric Anklesaria, ZPL continues to expand its footprint as a vibrant community festival, combining sport with celebration. As anticipation builds for Season 5, ZPL promises a high-energy showcase of talent, competitive spirit and community bonding, set to captivate audiences, with Media Partner Parsi Times amplifying the excitement and setting the tone for the league’s grand showcase.
