The second edition of the prestigious Oberoi Concours d’Elegance, held recently at The Oberoi Udaivilas, Udaipur, brought together some of the world’s finest vintage automobiles and motorcycles. Set against the regal backdrop of the City of Lakes, the event celebrated automotive heritage, craftsmanship and timeless luxury, drawing global participation and an eminent panel of judges, including MotoGP legend Giacomo Agostini and former Ferrari F1 chief Jean Todt.

Among the standout highlights was the strong and proud presence of the Parsi community. Members of the ‘Vintage Zoroastrian Bikers of Bombay’ made a remarkable impact, with 12 of the 35 shortlisted motorcycles being Parsi-owned. Several of these were exceptionally rare pieces, underscoring the community’s deep-rooted passion for vintage motoring and preservation.

The event opened with the Oberoi Tour d’Elegance, followed by the Maharaja Drive, where a grand convoy of classic vehicles moved through Udaipur with full police escort. Leading this distinguished procession was Farokhi Bengali, on his rare BMW R90S motorcycle, setting an impressive tone for the showcase.

Parsi participants went on to secure top honours across multiple categories. Xereus Zend achieved a double win in the Emerging Classics category, clinching Best of Class for his 1973 Norton Commando Mk2 (850cc) and Runner-up for his 1976 Triumph Bonneville T140 (750cc). In the Post War Classic Motorcycles category, Hafiz Contractor won Best of Class for his 1953 Sunbeam S7, while Shalailla Ginwalla secured Runner-up for her 1956 BSA Goldstar DB34 (500cc).

In the Indian Heritage MotorRacing category, Jehangir Foroogh won Best of Class for his 1927 AJS H7, while Siddhesh Mitkar took the Runner-up position with a 1964 Norton Dominator SS, once owned by racing legend Tehemtan Bhagwagar.

Supported by renowned sponsors such as BMW, Rolls-Royce, Rolex and Thomas Goode, the event stood as a benchmark in elegance and excellence. The outstanding achievements of the Parsi participants reaffirms the legacy of passion, precision and pride, reinforcing the community’s enduring contribution to India’s vintage automobile and motoring landscape.
