In an inspiring feat of endurance and determination, Kaizad Jamshedji and Histasp Khambata successfully completed the gruelling Iron Butt Challenge, covering 2,500 kilometres in 36 hours, on their Kawasakis (fondly addressed by them as ‘Bawasakis’). The ride, undertaken on 11th March, 2026, saw the two seasoned riders, both over 50, push physical and mental limits to achieve this globally recognised milestone. The Iron Butt Association is renowned for promoting safe and disciplined long-distance riding, with riders required to maintain detailed logs and verified records of their journey.
Registered under the Iron Butt Association, USA, the challenge demands extensive long-distance riding experience and strict documentation. Kaizad and Histasp went a step further by completing two certified challenges in a single ride. They accomplished the SaddleSore 1,600 kilometres in 24 hours and the Bun Burner 2,500 kilometres in 36 hours, riding continuously with only essential fuel and rest stops.
Starting from Pune at 10:30 pm, the duo navigated dense traffic, unpredictable road conditions and intense weather, maintaining focus and discipline throughout the demanding journey. Their ride concluded at 10:30 am, on 13th March, marking the successful completion of both challenges.
Recounting the experience with much humour in typical Bawa-style, Kaizad Jamshedji shares with Parsi Times, “From our ultra-comfortable, lazy, chai-in-hand lifestyles, we launched ourselves straight into Bangalore traffic that moves slower than Parsi family decision-making… countering random speed-breakers that appear like plot twists in Ekta Kapoor serials, pot-holes so deep you can see last year’s monsoon memories and the South Indian heat that turns riding gear into mobile tandoors! But through it all, both us stubborn Bawajis refused to get off our ‘Bawasakis’ for 36 hours… 12 fuel stops through sweat, traffic, bad decisions and elite level stubbornness… we completed the 1600 km Saddle Sore and 2500 km Bun Burner!”
Standing as a proud testament to Bawa resilience and sheer passion, Kaizad and Histasp’s accomplishment reinforces that age is no barrier when determination and spirit take the lead. Back home, the riders may be resting, but their remarkable journey has already set the stage for many more adventures ahead!
