In a remarkable display of determination and excellence, Khurshid Mistry brought international acclaim by winning two gold medals at the World Masters Swimming Championship 2026, held in Sriracha, Thailand, from 17^th to 19^th April, 2026. Competing in her age category, she secured top honours in the 50 metres freestyle and 50 metres backstroke events.

Speaking with Parsi Times on the joyous occasion, Khurshid shared, “Winning a World Championship has always been a cherished dream, and I feel truly grateful to have achieved it. What began as a simple step towards recovery after a knee injury just two years ago has transformed into an incredible journey. To bring pride to the nation and to our community on the global stage feels truly fulfilling.” Her impressive rise in the aquatic arena has been nothing short of extraordinary, with victories at four national and two state-level competitions leading up to this global achievement.

Khurshid’s sporting journey, however, extends far beyond the pool. Earlier this year, she clinched top spot in the 10 km race at the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2026, in her category. A seasoned runner since 2012, she has completed over 70 half marathons and 10 km races, consistently securing podium finishes.

Her achievements in athletics are equally impressive, with gold medals at 13 state and 13 national Masters Athletic Meets. She has represented India at international events across Malaysia, Brunei, Bangkok, New Zealand and Dubai, earning multiple accolades. A six-time recipient of the All-Parsees Best Athlete of the Year Award, Khurshid has also been honoured with the Shakti Award, Alfa Lifetime Achievement Award, Woman of the Year Award and Excellence in Sports recognition.

Her recent triumph at the Maharashtra State Masters Games 2025, where she won three gold medals in swimming, further underscores her versatility and dedication.
