The Zoroastrian Association of Pennsylvania and New Jersey (ZAPANJ) marked its April Religious Class with a vibrant celebration of Adar Roj-nu-Parab, with young learners for a session filled with creativity and cultural connection. The children were divided into two groups and engaged in preparing for Choola nu Varas, the symbolic birthday of the house fire observed on Daep-a-Adar Roj. With enthusiasm and teamwork, each group designed and decorated a makeshift choola, gaining a deeper understanding of the sacred role of fire in Zoroastrian tradition.
Through interactive storytelling and guided discussions, the session highlighted how the home fire represents warmth, purity, unity and divine presence in daily life. The children expressed their learning through thoughtful decoration, transforming the activity into a meaningful tribute.
The class created a space where tradition and engagement came together seamlessly, allowing young Zarathushtis to connect with their heritage in an enjoyable and memorable way, alongside support and guidance from teachers, volunteers and parents. Kudos to ZAPANJ for continuing to set a commendable example in nurturing faith and cultural pride among the younger generation.
