ZAC Celebrates Community, Tradition, Togetherness

This year’s Navroz celebration by the Zoroastrian Association of California was a vibrant and well-attended affair, bringing together over 320 community members, including guests from outside the region. The evening reflected a strong sense of unity and engagement. Gratitude was extended to an anonymous donor for generously sponsoring the event.

Planned and organised by President Xerxes Commissariat and his team, the program commenced with Jashan prayers led by Er. Zarrir Bhandara, Er. Zerksis Bhandara and Er. Kyan Lali. This was followed by a delightful play performance by religious class children, guided by teachers Hutoxi Contractor and Yasmin Gundevia, highlighting the importance of nurturing young minds and preserving cultural traditions. A beautifully curated Haft-Seen table and festive décor, created by Mahnaz and Pervez Erani, added elegance to the celebration. A key highlight was the unveiling of the newly renovated kitchen, made possible through generous contributions from Bejan Malbari, Freny Bacha and Sohrab Charna.

The evening was further elevated by the presence of the Consul General of India in Los Angeles, Dr. Srinivasa, who felicitated ZAC’s Head Priest, Er. Zarrir Bhandara, in recognition of his exemplary and selfless service to the community. Over nearly three decades in California, Er. Bhandara has made over 600 platelet and plasma donations, a remarkable act of compassion that has touched and saved countless lives, embodying the highest ideals of service and humanity.

Youth of the Year awards were proudly presented by the Consul General to Spenta Pithawalla, Shahyan Siganporia, and Zubin Daruwalla in recognition of their outstanding achievements. An abundant spread of Persian and Indian cuisine was enjoyed by all, with the traditional Falooda, offering a sweet and satisfying close to the evening’s festivities.
