Continuing a proud legacy of over a century, the 32nd West Bombay Pioneer Scouts, one of the community’s oldest scouting groups, recently organised a 3-day summer camp at Khopoli, 17th to 19th April, 2026. Led by Scout Master Jehangir Foroogh, along with 24 Cubs, Scouts and Rovers, the camp blended training with outdoor adventure, reinforcing the core values of discipline and teamwork.
The camp saw participants engage in a range of activities including tent pitching, pioneering, knotting, signalling and first aid. A nature hike and swimming sessions added to the overall experience, making learning both practical and enjoyable. The camp focused on building resilience, leadership skills and camaraderie among young participants.
Founded on 5th February, 1922 at Mumbai’s BJPC Institution, the group has remained a constant pillar of scouting within the Parsi community. Originally known as the ‘32nd Parsi Pioneer Boy Scout Troop’, it has functioned continuously from the same location. Over the decades, it has been guided by stalwarts including Sir Byaramjee Jeejeebhoy, Scouter Noshirwan K J Khan and Burjor F Bilimoria, each contributing to its growth and reputation.
Today, under the leadership of Group Leader Viraf Gazdar, the group continues to uphold its rich traditions while nurturing future generations. With over 104 years of service, the 32nd West Bombay Pioneer Scouts remains a strong platform for holistic development, inspiring parents to encourage young boys to join and benefit from this enduring institution.
