Happy Mother’s Day!

Dear Readers,

There’s something wonderfully unique about a Parsi mother. She reveals herself in countless expressions of love and care – the silent yet resilient nurturer, the steadfast guardian of family values, the ever-watchful protector whose concern for her children never fades with age (hers or theirs!). She embodies a love so constant and selfless that it shapes families, preserves traditions and leaves an enduring imprint across generations.

This Mother’s Day, 10th May, as the world pauses to honour the enduring spirit of motherhood, the Parsi community has profound reason for gratitude. Ours is a community deeply rooted in family, values and compassion, and at the heart of countless Parsi homes, stands the mother holding it all together, often without recognition, without rest and certainly without retirement.

Many of us still have the immense blessing of hearing our mother’s voice calling out from another room, checking whether we reached safely, reminding us to carry an umbrella despite clear skies, or lovingly complaining that we “just don’t spend enough time at home.” Those little irritations we once rolled our eyes at, slowly become life’s greatest comforts.

There are those among us whose mothers are older now. Time may have slowed them down. Illness may have dimmed parts of their memory, their strength or even their once-commanding presence. The woman who once ran the household with unstoppable energy may now need care herself. Yet even in those quieter moments, her love remains deeply felt. A single glance, a familiar smile, or merely knowing she is beside us can still fill our homes and our hearts with comfort and a sense of belonging that nothing else in the world can truly replace.

Perhaps that is the true beauty of motherhood… while time may change its expression, a mother’s love continues to endure with the same strength, unwavering devotion and extraordinary ability to anchor our lives.

This Mother’s Day, let’s celebrate our mothers with more patience, more gratitude, more time. Let’s call them more often, hug them a little tighter and cherish the privilege of having them in our lives. For long after childhood fades and life changes around us, a mother’s love remains one of the purest and most enduring blessings we will ever know.

Happy Mother’s Day!
