The 39^th edition of the famous Holiday Programme for Youth (HPY) commenced on 3^rd May, 2026, with an inauguration ceremony held at Alexandra Girls’ English Institution, which will serve as home to the programme’s 125 participants, over the next 28 days. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and anticipation as youngsters gathered to begin what promises to be a transformative experience.

The ceremony was chaired by BPP Trustee Armaity Tirandaz and opened with a prayer led by Er. Firdaus Pavri. HPY’s mentor and the driving force behind its success and evolution, Diana Marfatia, welcomed the participants with warmth and grace. She described HPY as the beginning of an important new chapter in their lives and encouraged them to make the best of every opportunity the program offers.

Adding a personal touch to the inauguration, ex-HPYite Zelina Master, shared heartfelt memories of her own journey through the program. Urging participants to step out of their comfort zones, she encouraged them to remain open to new friendships, experiences and challenges. In her address, Armaity Tirandaz highlighted the importance of determination and perseverance. Her words struck a chord with the audience as she remarked, “Some of us may have wings, but all of us have feet and can travel the same distance.”

Chief Guest – eminent oncologist, Dr. Jeyhan Dhabar praised the community’s rich heritage and lauded HPY for creating a platform where young minds can interact with distinguished achievers from diverse fields. Guest of Honour, Meher Jesia, noted proprietor and former HPY participant (1994), reflected on the lasting impact HPY has had on her life and family. Her speech highlighted how the programme continues to shape generations within the community.

One of the ceremony’s most cherished traditions followed with the spirited rendition of the HPY Song. Written and composed in 2002 by members of the organising team, the song continues to unite generations of HPYites and remains a proud symbol of the programme’s enduring legacy.

The formal ceremony concluded with a Vote of Thanks by organiser Zehaan Najmi, followed by the rendition of the Zoroastrian Anthem ‘Chhaiye Hame Jarthosti’ and the National Anthem. Compèred by Freya Irani, the inauguration marked the beginning of what the participants will cherish lifelong, as four unforgettable weeks filled with workshops, competitions, friendships and life-shaping experiences that define the spirit of HPY.
