The fifth season of the Zoroastrian Premier League (ZPL 2026) concluded in electrifying fashion last weekend at the Rustom Baug Grounds, drawing over 1,500 spectators for the semi-finals and finals held across 2^nd – 3^rd May, 2026. With football, music, food and community celebrations creating a carnival-like atmosphere, the tournament once again reinforced its status as one of the Zoroastrian community’s most awaited sporting spectacles. Adding significantly to the excitement was Parsi Times, which partnered with ZPL 2026 as the exclusive media partner, amplifying the league’s reach and energy through extensive coverage and promotion.

After five action-packed weeks and nearly 70 matches, the competition culminated in a gripping final between ‘Byculla United’, owned by Gilan Ferzandi, and ‘Super Strikers’, led by Khoremand and Aryohn Irani. Both teams had lost only one match all season, setting the stage for a thrilling showdown.

The semi-finals delivered edge-of-the-seat drama. Byculla United overcame Jeshad Dumasia’s Predators after a tense penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw, securing a spot in the final. The second semi-final saw Super Strikers face Sterling FC in a goalless draw, where Super Strikers triumphed in penalties.

The finale, played under the lights on Sunday evening, saw Sean Todiwalla step up for Byculla United, scoring shortly after halftime to put his side ahead. However, Super Strikers responded swiftly when a long delivery from goalkeeper Ushaine Gandhi resulting in an unfortunate self-goal by BU defender, Maazyar Engineer. With momentum shifting, Super Strikers eventually found the winner through Aarzish Mugaseth, whose powerful header from a Zareer Cobla corner, sent the crowd into celebration. Despite relentless late pressure from Byculla United, the Strikers’ defence held firm to secure a memorable 2-1 victory.

Super Strikers scripted a remarkable comeback story this season after finishing at the bottom of the table in 2024. Guided by Porus Titina and Rohan Bokdawalla, the side evolved into one of ZPL’s most consistent and disciplined teams, eventually lifting the championship trophy. Their victory also ensured ZPL crowned its fifth different winner in five seasons, highlighting the league’s intense competitiveness. Beyond football, ZPL 2026 celebrated community spirit, drawing supporters from India and abroad while fans tracked every moment through the league’s digital app. The celebrations will continue at the official Awards Afternoon and After Party on 17^th May at Amaru, Bandra, where nominees and winners will be felicitated in true ZPL spirit.
