The Zoroastrian Women’s Assembly Surat (ZWAS) recently conducted its three-day Summer Camp, attracting 60 children for an enriching programme that combined religious learning, creativity, confidence-building and recreation.
Designed to help youngsters connect with their Zoroastrian faith and cultural heritage in an engaging manner, the camp featured sessions on the life of Prophet Zarathushtra and the legendary King Jamshid. Participants also learned the significance of the sadra and kusti, the correct method of wearing them, and the respectful disposal of a sadra. Monajats were taught by trustee Maharukh Chichgar.
The camp offered a variety of educational and entertaining activities. Dance sessions conducted by ZWAS President Mahazarin Variava were enthusiastically received, while speech and joke sessions led by Perin Karanjia helped children build confidence and communication skills. Kainaz Variava composed humorous songs making learning enjoyable. Art and craft activities encouraged creative expression, with guidance and materials provided by Shiraz Gandhi, among other creative activities. An eagerly awaited highlight was the swimming outing, providing welcome relief from the summer heat. Games, songs, interactive sessions and delicious meals contributed to the lively atmosphere throughout the camp.
The concluding function, compered by former camp participants Shanaira Variava, Pashang Mehta and Delzin Bavaadam, was attended by distinguished community members including Padma Shri Yazdi Karanjia, Veera Karanjia, Dr. Minoo Parabia, Farzin Parabia, Gulshan Master and Rukshad Master, where participants presented dances, speeches, songs and jokes before parents and guests. The organisers expressed gratitude to the sponsors, volunteers and community members whose support and cooperation were instrumental in making the camp a memorable and enriching experience.
