The Salsette Colony Grounds hosted the first season of the Salsette Volleyball Premier League (SVPL) on 23^rd and 24^th May, 2026, organised under the Salsette Welfare Association (SWA). The brainchild of volleyball enthusiast Parvez Sidhwa, this professional franchise-based league celebrates sporting talent while nurturing community camaraderie.

Months of meticulous planning culminated in a spectacular two-day event that drew players, families, supporters, sponsors and volunteers from across the community. Eight teams, selected through an exciting player auction, competed fiercely for the coveted title. The participating teams included Bawa Bangerz, Team Bee’s, Trojans, Elite Squad, Buzzingaa, Chaos Cartel, Team Tiger and Meher Warriors.

Playing from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm in intense summer conditions, participants displayed remarkable stamina, teamwork and sportsmanship. Spectators were treated to thrilling rallies, powerful smashes, brilliant defensive efforts and nail-biting finishes that kept the atmosphere charged throughout the tournament.

After two days of high-quality volleyball action, Team Bawa Bangerz emerged as the champions of SVPL Season 1. Team Bee’s secured the runners-up position, while Team Trojans finished third. Individual honours were awarded to Sunny Patel, who was named Player of the Tournament, and Atish Pestonji, who received the Upcoming Player of the Tournament award.
