ZAPANJ Marks Muktad And New Year Celebrations

The Zoroastrian Association of Pennsylvania and New Jersey (ZAPANJ) held its annual Muktad Prayers on 8th August, 2026, continuing a cherished tradition established 15 years ago by the late Freny Ranji. Hosted at the home of Hilla and Ammie Singh, the prayers were conducted by Er. Minocher Dadachanji and Mobedyar Malcolm Cooper, with around 35 community members attending.

A moment of silence honoured Freny Ranji, followed by a heartfelt eulogy by Kerban Chapgar celebrating her remarkable 50 years of service to the Zoroastrian community. The prayers concluded with a feast generously contributed by attendees and an evening of fellowship.

On 15th August, ZAPANJ welcomed the Parsi New Year at Café Fontana in New Jersey. Laughter, games and lively conversation filled the evening as families and friends across generations reconnected and celebrated together. A delicious dinner, featuring the much-loved Patra ni Machi, added to the festivities.

Together, the two occasions beautifully reflected the spirit of ZAPANJ, remembering those who shaped the community while celebrating the bonds that sustain it today. With much warmth, faith, fellowship and tradition at its heart, the community stepped into the New Year together, carrying its cherished heritage forward.
