Dear Readers,
What a week it’s been for Parsi sporting pride! We are over the moon about Kynan Chenai’s spectacular Asian Games Gold for India, a historic triumph that has filled our tiny community with enormous pride. Kynan is part of an encouraging sporting surge… from our athletes powering through HYROX to others racing their way to success in motor rallies and youngsters battling it out at Navsari’s Box Cricket, Parsis are increasingly embracing sport with confidence, grit and determination. Read about these inspiring achievements and much more in this edition of Parsi Times.
While there is much to celebrate, perhaps the most meaningful way to honour our good fortune is to let some of that goodness flow towards those who need it most.
Fittingly, this week, we share two appeals that reflect something deeply ingrained in our Parsipanu: generosity. The WZO Trust Funds seeks support for 52-year-old Farrokh Batliwalla, in urgent need of a double-lung transplant. With his complete transplant pathway estimated at over Rs. 2.12 crore, his family faces a formidable financial challenge.
Also inspiring is the appeal by Shahin Nariman Bacha, who will run her third consecutive Tata Mumbai Marathon Dream Run, raising funds for Vasantha Memorial Trust, supporting cancer patients, and ALERT-INDIA, serving those affected by leprosy, HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis.
Maybe therein, lies the true meaning of community. We cheer wholeheartedly when one of our own rises to distinction, and we respond with as much compassion when another needs a helping hand. While us Bawajis certainly know how to celebrate, beneath all the feasting and Bawa bonhomie lies an innate instinct to care, contribute and show up for each other. So, amid this season of medals, milestones and celebrations, let’s carry forward the good spirit. After all, the true measure of pride lies in the purpose it inspires.
Have a lovely weekend!
