Of Vintages And Classics

The morning of February 26, 2017, had the vintage car and motorcycle enthusiasts getting together to attend VCCCI’s Annual Vintage and Classic Event. This well begun Sunday morning had our old timer cars and motorcycles lovers congregating at the now regular venue – Horniman Circle at Fort in South Mumbai.

For enthusiasts and spectators alike, it was a visual fiesta of sights and sounds… from the bodylines to colour… right down to the purr of a Bently Roadmaster and the rasp of a BSA Goldstar! These beauties were then flagged off to complete a Tulip course all the way to Sofitel Hotel at BKC (Bandra-Kurla Complex). Here, they were proudly displayed for a well-deserved photo opportunity, as the crowds continued ogling these gorgeous vehicles.

This year’s event also included the participation of a few artists from the JJ School of Arts, who had showcased an artist’s rendition of some vehicles on canvas. These were later auctioned at the event. Post lunch, began the awards ceremony. From Concours d’elegance to the oldest car, motorcycle and man participating in the event, a plethora of prizes were up for grabs! It was delightful to see numerous passionate Parsi/Irani Zoroastrians, both old and the next generation, justifying and taking forward the ‘bawas love classics’ legacy forward! Here’s looking forward to an even bigger event next year! Happy restoring!
