Saving the Earth in a Rickshaw!

New Zealand’s Yohann Irani is on a mission to save the Earth in a rickshaw! Staying true to his India roots, Yohann and seven of his friends have raised funds to be part of the ‘Rickshaw Run 2019’. Three rickshaws of team ‘The Rolled Oats’ will join others in a 3,500 km journey that will start in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan and culminate in Kochi, Kerala.  Organized by The Adventurists, the Rickshaw Run raises awareness and funds for ‘Cool Earth’, a charity that works alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation. Cool Earth has so far saved 901,679 acres; protected 216,402,960 trees and stored 234,436,540 tonnes of CO2!

Yohann and his friends received a two-day basic course on how to operate rickshaws and were then left to their devices to decide the route and the pace they wanted to set on this journey replete with unique experiences for these youngsters. Yohann even undertook a three day fast to get more donations for the cause! At the end of the fast, Yohann said, “I appreciate food even more now after this experience and am thankful to all those who donated for the cause.”

Parsi Times wishes Yohann and his friends a safe journey. May they achieve all they have set out to!
