On 31st May, 2018, prominent architect and businessman, Jimmy Mistry’s landmark building, Della Tower, hosted over a thousand people of the city’s Zoroastrian community including Head Priests, priests, religious scholars, Trustees of the Parsi Punchayet, actors, business people, cricketers and other community members, who gathered to participate in the auspicious ceremony – the Enthronement of the Dadgah Saheb at 5:00 pm. The decade-old Della Tower is a magnificent construction designed by Jimmy Mistry, Chairman Della Group. His Persia-inspired architectural masterpiece established Jimmy as a doyen of the Parsi/Irani community and a designer extraordinaire. Ever since the building had been constructed, Jimmy had provisioned for a Dadgah Saheb which was finally enthroned last evening by the hands of three of our venerated Vada Dasturjis – Dr. Firoze Kotwal, Khurshed Dastoor and Cyrus Noshiwan Dastur – the distinguished head priests of our community. The Dadgah Saheb is Jimmy’s humble and honest contribution to the new-age Parsi/Irani youth, and he hopes it will be patronised as a place of worship for all community members.
The ambience came alive, tastefully decorated with flowers and garlands and to mark the occasion, Della Tower was lit up on the outside by special coloured lights to create the perfect celebratory atmosphere. Guests were treated to chilled glasses of falooda, tea cakes and platters of fruit. Jimmy hopes to carry on this display of our rich heritage through an Exhibition Center he is currently working on. To be located in the Della Tower lobby, this Exhibition Center is being designed with the community youth in mind and will employ ample audio-visual effects to spark a greater interest in our culture and heritage.
In addition to the Vada Dasturjis, several learned religious scholars from our community, including Dr. Er. Ramiyar Karanjia and Dr. Er. Parvez Bajan were present. Also present were Chairman of Bombay Parsi Punchayet, Yezdi Desai and his wife Anahita, as well as BPP’s earlier and current Trustees like Arnavaz Mistry, Armaity Tirandaz and Trustee Zarir Bhatena’s wife; Trustees of the Rustam Faramna Agiary; actor Boman Irani and wife Zenobia; actor Nauheed Cyrusi; Boman Irani (builder); Percy Chowdhry; celebrated cricketer Farokh Engineer; fitness icon Mickey Mehta; Roshni and Parvez Damania; Anahita and Gary Lawyer; Dr. Byramjee; Hoshi Sinor; the core team of Mobeds (Priests) from the Parsi Resource Group PRG Kaizad Karkaria, Meher Dastur, Cyrus Dastur, Jamshed Pa
nthaky and the Dadachanji Brothers.
Speaking at the inauguration, Dr. Er. Ramiyar Karanjia said, “This is indeed a very historic occasion. What we are going to witness is the establishment of a Dadgah Saheb in a building. Just yesterday in this place where the Dadgah Saheb would be housed which is the Kebla, a Vandidgard ritual was performed and the sacred fire of the Vandidgard ritual and the sacred fire of the Farishta ritual will be housed in the Dadgah Saheb. The residents
of Della Tower are most fortunate to have a Dadgah Saheb right in the building. Being open to all members of the community, everyone is encouraged to visit the Dadgah Saheb to seek blessings.”
