Re: Piroja Jokhi’s Letter

At the outset let me compliment Piroj Jokhi on the genius suggestion and voicing publically the exact sentiments of my thoughts, expressed so well, for the benefit of our miniscule community, which has two views – the orthodox and the progressive.

I agree with your view as my family looks forward to reading any article written by you published by our own community media publications – the fortnightly Parsiana and the weekly Parsi Times. Your writing is of a person of vision, broad mindedness, as a forward, practical person.

I hereby publicly cast my first vote of No Confidence with regard to the BPP. I am sure the Chair itself is not cursed and our community is not bankrupt of leadership qualities because good people like you do not plunge in the murky puddle of elections to become office bearers to bring harmony in the BPP Boardroom, to solve Community problems, but busy washing dirty linen in public through futile costly litigations and thereby spoiling the community’s image.

The Defination of RESPONSIBILITY is not blame, shame or guilt, but willingness to acknowledge that you are the cause in the matter. No amount of Jashans are effective to disinfect the Boardroom. Let us pray for the next elections soon so that a new batch of Trustees would restore the lost respect, values, virtues that our community is so well known for in India and abroad .Thank you for your contribution of Good Thoughts, Words and Deeds.

Re: Parsi General Hospital New Wing

This is in reference to our Parsi General Hospital’s new wing that was supposed to come up with a lion hearted donation from Shroff family of Hong Kong. We read that some self-appointed crusaders are creating hurdles and stalling this project. It would be interesting to note that these highfliers, so called Self-Appointed Crusaders (SAC) never go to PGH when there are any health issues in their family. They reach out to Breach Candy or other equivalent top notch hospitals. They don’t use our Parsi charities so it does not pinch them. The actual sufferers are the poor, lower middle and middle class Zarthostis.

We are getting major costly treatment under one roof, without going anywhere else, at a concessional rate – making this a win-win situation for all.  These SACs cannot hold back community projects at gunpoint – it’s the regrettable crab mentality.

I think BPP should hold an Anjuman meeting and go ahead with the nice work that they are doing.  You have our support for the progress of our community.

Similarly, even the Parsi Lying-in Hospital (PLiH) project has been stalled for so many years. This property, at a prime location, is unfortunately wasted. That revenue can help BPP to serve the poor and needy better. Please sort out your personal differences and let’s move forward.
