On 28^th January, 2023, the Parsi Panchayat Charitable Fund Vadodara hosted a Merit Awards function for meritorious students of the community, during which it felicitated immediate past president, Baman R. Cama and past Trustees – Jahangir Parabia and Cyrus Bhesania, in the presence of Chief Guest – Brig. (Retd.) Jehangir P. Anklesaria (VSM), President of Ahmedabad Parsi.

Deserving students were conferred awards and scholarships in various fields. President of Vadodara Parsi Panchayat – Phiroz Patel, applauded the selfless service and dedication of Baman Cama, Jahangir Parabia and Cyrus Bhesania, and felicitated them. He also felicitated Chief Guest, Brig. Anklesaria, for his valour and courage serving the nation for thirty-five years in the Indian Army, especially during his posting at the Siachen glacier, the highest battlefield point in the world. For his acts of bravery, Brig. Anklesaria was also awarded the Vishist Seva Medal (VSM) by the President of India.

Baman Cama was felicitated with a shawl, a silver salver and a scroll of honour enumerating the services he rendered during his tenure as Panchayat Trustee and President. He was part of the team that initiated the Merit Awards and Scholarships program in 1982, as also projects including the construction of the Dokhma Bangli, Renovation of Adariansaheb and Dharamshala Building, etc. He put in much effort to provide medical and financial aid to needy Humdins. Former President Jal Patel and community members- Dr. Minoo Patel, Cyrus Bhesania, Meher Ginwalla and Dilnaz Homawala expressed deep appreciation for his services.

The President then honoured Jahangir Parabia and Cyrus Bhesania with a garland, shawl and memento. Kaizad Engineer received a special award for academic and professional excellence in Remedial Engineering of Heritage Structures and for his honorary services to the panchayat. Compered by Trustee – Lt. Col. Adi Chinoy, the event ended with a vote of thanks by Aspi Vajifdar.
