Adar Poonawalla Urges Seniors To Take Covovax Booster Dose

Amid the rising cases of Covid yet again, Adar Poonawalla, CEO of Serum Institute of India (SII), the world’s largest vaccine manufacturers in terms of volume, recently emphasized the need for the elderly to take the Covovax Covid-10 Vaccine booster dose, saying it is excellent against all variants and has been approved in the US and Europe.

SII’s Covovax vaccines  have been added to the CoWin Covid vaccination portal and is now available on the CoWin App. “As Covid cases have been rising again with Omicron XBB and its variants, it can be severe for the elderly. I’d suggest for the elderly to mask up and take the Covovax booster,” tweeted Adar Poonawalla.

SII’s Covovax on the CoWin portal as a heterologous booster dose for adults is priced at Rs. 225/- per dose, plus GST charges. It can be administered to those who have received two shots of either Covishield or Covaxin vaccines. Covovax has been approved by the World Health Organisation and US Food and Drug Administration, as per SSI.
