As a Social Service initiative, ‘Tehmurasp’s Titans’, a sub-group of the community’s leading organization for Zarthosti children – Xtremely Young Zoroastrians (XYZ), connected with Karjat-based NGO, Samaaveshi Pathshaala Foundation, to assist on the project of transforming ten Anganwadis in Karjat by setting up ten mini-libraries, in their second round of expansion. Their contribution will impact the initial education of over a thousand rural children in Karjat.
The Titans kicked off their online drive in end-September, 2019 (www.ketto.org/fundraiser/byxyz) to collect funds and spread awareness. On October 13, 2019, they made door-to-door calls to collect story books for children between four and twelve years, simultaneously across four Baugs – Salsette Parsi Colony, Panthaky Baug, Malcolm Baug and Behram Baug – to put together thirty-two bags full of over a thousand donated books for primary level children for the ‘Samaaveshi library’. The Titans were ably supported by XYZ’s other sub-groups including ‘Rustom’s Rockstars’, ‘Daraius’ Daredevils’ and ‘Jamshed’s Giants’, for the collections.
These books will be directly accessed by all children studying in primary schools and Anganwadis, in and around Kashele. They also collected monetary donations amounting to Rs. 1,16,533/-. XYZ’s Titans have collectively helped Samaaveshi Pathshaala in their vision to reach out to as many as 20 Anganwadis (out of total 278), and expand the ecosystem of inclusive ‘early’ education where children with disabilities, study together in the same classroom as regular, non-disabled kids, using a multi-sensory learning approach. These children are the first-generation kids to ever attend school. Kudos to Tehmurasp’s Titans and XYZ’s initiatives for transforming lives!
