Pervin Taleyarkhan Recognized As ‘Crain’s 2021 Notable Women in Law’

Congratulations to Pervin Rusi Taleyarkhan for being recognized and honoured as one of the distinguished ‘Crain’s 2021 Notable Women in Law’ by Crain’s Detroit Business /Crain Communications – one of the largest privately held business media publishers in the world, an American multi-industry publishing conglomerate based in Detroit. 

Pervin works as the legal counsel for Whirlpool Corporation – known to be among the top 300 patent filers in the United States. As the youngest member and only women on the global patent legal team, she handles matters including patents, litigation, open-source software, international patent filings and third-party intellectual agreements. She is a member of the 100-lawyer department’s Global Growth and Development Committee and is responsible for helping members remain current on topics of interest to the company. 

Taleyarkhan is also an Adjunct Professor at the Indiana University School of Law, as also its Intellectual Property Clinic Director, providing local businesses and inventors trademark and patent related legal advice and services, and provides law students with practical, collaborative experiences in dealing with real-world clients.

She is an active volunteer in the Zoroastrian community, serving as co-Director of the Society of Scholars of Zoroastrianism, Board Member of WZCC (Chicago) and of Zoroastrian Association of Chicago, and Trustee of the Zarathushti Entrepreneurship Development Foundation (ZEDF).  She was also the winner of the 2019 WZCC Young Zarathushti Entrepreneurship/Professional of the Year Award.

Pervin was born in Pennsylvania (USA) and she was raised with her two sisters in Tennessee (USA).  Her parents Professor Rusi Taleyarkhan and Navaz Taleyarkhan, are both native Parsis from Mumbai who now live in Indiana, where her father is a professor of Nuclear Engineering at Purdue University.

Pervin earned her degree in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University and her Juris Doctorate / Law degree from Indiana University.  She is now based in Michigan (USA) as an in-house Legal Counsel with Whirlpool Corporation, one of the largest appliance manufacturers in the world. Outside of her work, she is actively involved in her legal and intellectual property communities holding leadership positions in globally based organizations like the American Bar Association and the Association of Corporate Counsel. Her constant advocacy and quest for growth opportunities have earned her high-level recognitions, including ABA’s ‘Star of the Year’ and ‘Outstanding Leadership Contribution’ awards.
