The Poona Zarthosti Seva Mandal (PZSM) celebrated its ‘Platinum Jubilee’ on 24th June, 2016, at Pudumjee Hall (Pune Camp), where guest speaker, the eminent Indian Supreme Court Judge, Justice Rohinton Fali Nariman, addressed a crowd of over 200 people. An eloquent welcome address by President Rukhsshana M. Ankllesaria commenced the occasion where she spoke of various undertakings of the Mandal’s, established in 1940. Next, Justice Nariman spoke of the five parts of the Kusti prayer, “The idea of prayer is to tell one how to live. Also, if one asks for anything in their prayer, it should be something that’s righteous and beneficial to others rather than themselves.” Highlighting the charitable essence of our faith, he quoted one of our ancient Gathas, “Helping those in need will lead one to be bestowed with blessings of the Almighty.” A strong advocator of reading translations to enable praying with understanding, he encouraged a question and answer session. The event concluded with the release of a colourful blue and silver covered souvenir by Justice Nariman, followed by a vote of thanks by Vice President Mini N. Grant and dinner.
