Of Memories…
Dear Readers,
We are thrilled at Parsi Times to continue celebrating the various academic successes of our super-student-achievers, who truly seem poised to lead us yet again to our erstwhile glory (Check out Parsi Pride Brigade Pg. 3). Though we are unable to accommodate the results of all who write in, we congratulate all of you who wrote in to us as well as those who didn’t – this moment in time belongs to you, and it is today’s special moments that will become tomorrow’s beautiful memories. And it is these memories that will motivate you, give you hope and hold you in good stead when you’re back to the grind.
Another big news which is sure to have made some very proud and unforgettable memories for our Vada Dasturji Khurshed Dastoor and our community, was his appointment as Parsi Member on the National Minority Commission. Unfortunately, some of us took away from this precious memory by going on a trigger-happy, social media shaming spree, falsely accusing him with the obvious intent to malign. Parsi Times is thankful to Vada Dasturji Khurshed Dastoor for consenting to speak unequivocally in an interview, clearing any confusion caused within the community by these social-media-mudslingers, who I believe must be both – extremely unintelligent and extremely jobless, to continue the baseless slandering of our community leaders.
Parsi Times is delighted to be Media Partner (India) with the 11th World Zoroastrian Congress, which will take place in Perth (Australia) next year. Read about it on Pg. 9, and watch this space for more exciting information. The reason I’m mentioning the 11th WZC in this editorial is because of its theme, which symbolises the need of the hour within our Community in India – ‘Together Towards Tomorrow’. I hope that our community will adhere to and imbibe this simple philosophy, starting with the first word – ‘together’ and make fresh memories tomorrow which we can look back on and smile.
On a sombre note, a few days ago, the community was very saddened to hear about the tragic passing away of one of our fine, young men in a road accident in Chennai. Our thoughts and prayers are with the grief-stricken family. When such tragedies strike, we should be able to pull out of our myopias and put into perspective life’s uncertainties. Life is short and unpredictable. So, be kind and be happy. Sometimes, all that we are left with are memories, and some day, all that we will become, are memories too. Let’s do our bit to ensure that we are missed for all the right reasons by our families, friends and our community.
Have a lovely weekend,
– Anahita
