Kayomerz Irani Awarded President’s Police Medal

Continuing the Irani family tradition of achievement and doing the Community proud, top-cop Kayomerz Boman Irani was awarded the prestigious President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service, 2020, on India’s 71st Republic Day on the 26th of January, 2020. The President’s Police Medal is a decoration awarded annually to select law enforcement officers of India for gallantry and distinguished services on Republic Day and Independence Day.

Kayomerz Irani joined the Police Force as Direct PSI (Police Sub-Inspector), after graduating from the 1993-1994 batch, along with his brother Cyrus Irani, who was awarded the same honour during last year’s Independence Day in August 2019, as covered in Parsi Times. Serving the nation is a proud family tradition for the Iranis, as thier late father, Boman Behram Irani, worked at the Bhabha Atomic Research Center and mother, Piroja retired as Office Superintendent from the State Excise Department.

Speaking to Parsi Times, Kayomerz said, “I feel both – humbled and proud on receiving this award as it feels like my hard work has been recognized. I am honored at the opportunity to serve our nation. I would like to tell the youngsters of our community to work hard, and be more inclined towards government related job opportunities instead of solely focusing on private job, because we hardly have any Parsis working in government jobs. A few decades ago, there used to be a number of Parsis serving the nation and giving a better face to the community. Parsis are known for our immense contribution towards building our country and I hope that our oncoming generations continue the legacy by serving our country with their generosity and hard work.”

Here’s to Kayomerz Irani’s fab achievement! We congratulate him on behalf of our community and wish him the best!
