Masina Hospital Enhances Its Exclusive Parsi Facilities

In the year 2021 to 2022, we are proud to state that Masina Hospital has rapidly undergone changes – Upgrading and Modernizing its existing Departments and adding new specialties in tune with the latest technology and progress in modern medicine.

On 18th November, 2021, the hospital inaugurated an exclusive Parsi Special Room facility, which includes an executive suite, single occupancy deluxe rooms, twin sharing rooms and economy beds – a welcome addition to the already existing air-conditioned modern Parsi General Ward, our multi-sharing facility for poor and low-income Parsi patients… all ensuring to provide a home-away-from-home environment, with Parsipanu, replete with the best in catering too with authentic Parsi food!

Some of Masina Hospital’s significant milestones achieved last year include a New Operation Theatre complex with cutting edge technology; New Kidney Dialysis unit (facilities for Night dialysis); New Day Care Ward with Special rooms, dedicated Operation Theatres and Endoscopy Suites; New Pulmonary Function Testing facility; New 17-bedded ICU (in advanced stage of completion); New state-of-the-art PICU, NICU and Labour Rooms; as also renovated and modernised Deluxe Rooms, Twin sharing rooms, General wards and two exclusive Suites. 

The hospital recently successfully conducted its first Cardiac Transplant on a Paediatric patient, with Dr. Z. Hamdulay and his team performing very complex cardiac and Aortic surgeries in the hospital. Other strong points of the hospital include Orthopedic Surgery with top surgeons – Dr. Shahrookh Vatchha, Dr. Vispi Jokhi, Dr. Vishal Shinde and Dr. J J Bunsha performing complex surgeries, including Joint Replacement, Spine Instrumentation and Complex Trauma surgeries. Dr. Faiyaz Memon and Dr. Arpit Dave are experts in Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology has an excellent team of consultants including Dr. Kurush Paghdiwala, Dr. Anahita Pundole, Dr. Aspi Raimalwala, Dr. Manjiri Kaba and many more. The department has Advanced Laparoscopic and open surgery available for Gynaecological surgeries in the hospital. Masina Hospital also boasts of a Paediatric department with an updated NICU and PICU with point of care USG support, with expert consultants to ensure best pediatric care.

The Hospital has been recognized and appreciated for its Burns Department, with an excellent success rate, through the experience and dedication of Dr. Arvind Vartak, Dr. Suhas Abhyankar and Dr. Vispi Driver, ensuring a survival rate in managing burns patients better than most centres across India. Innovative techniques help achieve better clinical outcomes with lower costs, For eg., having its own Skin Bank. It also provides general surgery facilities with advanced laparoscopic facilities with noted surgeons like Dr. Gustad Davar (Vascular Surgeon), Dr. Kayomarz Kapadia, Dr. S. N.  and Dr. Mehdi Kaezerouni. 

Masina Hospital has also been performing complex neurosurgery and base of skull surgery performed by innovative minimally invasive techniques. It also provides advanced Major Cancer surgery of the Head and Neck region along with reconstruction by highly trained consultants. Dr Prasad Kasbekar is another expert surgeon offering cosmetic implant-based reconstruction.

Masina Hospital is also known for its Mental Health facility served by renowned Dr. Vihang Vahia and Dr. Natasha Kate, Dr. Milan Balakrishnan and others. The in-house ward and special room facility, with a recreation centre, occupational therapy and counselling and de-addiction centre make it a complete department which caters to mental health problems.

The Hospital also has an excellent Rehabilitation service which includes, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Adolescent and Child Therapy, Speech Therapy and Counselling Services. The indoor Neuro Rehabilitation package has resulted in many patients progressing from total dependency to relative independence, especially geriatric patients.

The hospital is currently in the process of modernizing and upgrading its Radiology Department and introducing Health check-up facilities in the coming year. Its constant endeavour has been to create new services and facilities to ensure giving the best possible service to society at large, and to the Parsi community in particular.

Patients admitted for Neurorehabilitation for which Masina Hospital has a special package, found it highly advantageous. The treatment helps patients who after neurological illnesses find it difficult to be independent in the home environment. Comprehensive physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nutritional therapy and counselling help in achieving high levels of independence.
