Earlier this month, a Blood Donation cum Platelet test drive was held at Malcolm Baug Parsee Gymkhana, for the benefit of Tata Memorial Hospital.

Seventeen of the blood donors also consented to a blood platelet test, which was a primary cause of this drive. All were found to be healthy platelet donors, as per the results shared by Tata Memorial. Platelets prove crucial in cancer surgeries as patients lose these in chemo therapy. Each platelet donation by a healthy donor helps up to three cancer patients.

The Tata Memorial Hospital has been leading from the front in fighting the cancer battle for lakhs suffering from cancer. The aim of the drive was to promote awareness of the need for healthy people to donate platelets needed by cancer patients in their journey to recuperation and survival.
