V. Victoria Shroff Recognized With Kings’ Counsel For Pioneering Work In Animal Law

British Columbia-based V. Victoria Shroff was recognised with King’s Counsel (KC), for her comprehensive contributions to the legal profession as a pioneer in Animal Law in British Columbia (BC) as well as one of Canada’s first animal lawyers. She is likely the first animal law lawyer to receive this appointment as only 7% of practicing BC lawyers can be awarded the King’s counsel designation at any time. Shroff is the second lawyer in her family to be appointed KC, following her father’s appointment, about 25 years ago.

V. Victoria Shroff, KC is one of Canada’s first and longest practicing (over two decades) animal advocates, presenting on animal law in Canada, Europe, USA and Asia. She heads ‘Shroff Animal Law’ (shroffanimallaw.com), the Animal Law Firm that helped pioneer animal law on the West Coast of Canada (2000), located in downtown Vancouver, as an exclusive animal law firm.

An award-winning innovator, who is referred to as an animal law ‘trailblazer’ for her development of animal law, V. Victoria Shroff was also awarded the prestigious animal law SEEDS award for her contributions to animal law. Not surprisingly, V. Victoria Shroff has a strong affinity for animals, having lived with them since infancy. Her family has been in the legal profession for generations, starting with her great grandfather. Shroff is also a Tedx speaker and has written a textbook on animal law. She teaches at two universities, mentors lawyers, law students and undergrad students.
