SWA Ups The Welfare Quotient At Salsette Colony With Refurbished Children’s Park, Cricket Tourney

The Salsette Welfare Association (SWA) inaugurated its refurbished children’s park at the Salsette Parsi Colony, on 9th February, 2024, replacing the old, worn-out equipment with an array of state-of-the-art equipment, including colorful jungle gyms, swings and slides, to cater to the younger residents.

The function commenced with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Sam Patel – Chief Guest and Trustee, Salsette Parsi Association. He commended SWA’s commitments and effort to transforming the children’s park, which also received support from residents. Children rushed eagerly into the park on its inauguration, thoroughly enjoying the new equipment, even as parents expressed gratitude.

SWA also organised a thrilling cricket tournament, bringing together cricket enthusiasts from across the city, on 20th – 21st January, 2024. Drawing in a large crowd of enthusiastic spectators, the tournament displayed the passion and talent of local cricketers, captivating the community with exciting matches and fierce competition. The format included league matches followed by knockout rounds, leading to the nail-biting finale, which was played under floodlights, as families and friends gathered to support the players, creating a festive atmosphere filled with cheers, applause and camaraderie.

Team ‘Kha Pa acha’, owned by Zubin Elavia was crowned the champion, with ‘Team Buzzinga’ (owner Siamak Thanawala), and ‘Team Bawa Bangerz’ (owner Homiar Kadodwala), claiming second and third spot, respectively. Ashdin Readymoney won the titles – ‘Best Batsman’ and ‘Player of the Series’; while Hormuzd Katrak won ‘Best Bowler’; and Mehernosh Patel won ‘Best Fielder’.

Kudos to SWA for its community-driven initiatives, which help enrich the quality of life and spaces for residents and community members.
