THSC Parel Wins DPCG U-18 Football Tourney

The THSC (Tata Housing Sports Club) Parel claimed its maiden title, winning the Under-18 Floodlit Football Tournament, hosted by Dadar Parsi Colony Gymkhana (DPCG), on 26th May, 2024. The thrilling finale witnessed THSC defeat Rustom Baug to claim the top prize of the tournament, which had received an overwhelming response, with participants from across Mumbai’s Parsi colonies and baugs. Joshua Lewis, CEO and Founder, Kenkre Football Academy, presided as Chief Guest for the evening.

The tournament kicked off with league rounds followed by the knock outs, as nearly a dozen teams put in their best skills and strategy, with THSC and Rustom Baug as finalists. Rustom Baug started with a bang scoring a goal within the initial minutes of the first half. THSC’s first goal came in during the second half, thus levelling the scores 1-1, through the game, leading to a Penalty Shootout to decide the winner.

It boiled down to a game of experience and nerves for the under-18 lads, but it was THSC that picked the winning trophy by scoring 4 goals, while Rustom Baug scored 2 goals. There was immense revelry and pride in the THSC camp, which was captained by 16-year-old Mehroy Irani, who also Captains U-17 for the Youth Soccer Academy and plays the Maharashtra League, along with 15-year-old goal keeper Kian Irani, who has played in the SGFI (School Games Federation India – Nationals) and currently trains at TSA.

The game-changing goal-keeper, Kian Irani won the ‘Goal Keeper of the Match’ award, while Rustom Baug’s brilliant players – Zavreh Turner was adjudged ‘Player of the Match’ and Sean Todywalla was awarded ‘Player of the Tournament’ title.
