Shapoorji Pallonji Mistry Family Helps Relocate Vesu Adaryan

23rd November, 2017 was a Red Letter Day for the Parsi/ Irani Zoroastrian Community of a tiny hamlet called Vesu Village, which has now metamorphosed into a growing landscape with conveniences unseen or unheard in the vicinity, some ten fifteen years ago. In the midst of the old and new, Vesu Village is seeing a transformation with the advent of shiny white bungalows, row houses and bright multi storied residential buildings, bringing in multiple families of Parsi Irani Zoroastrians to its new environs. Along with the old residences, in the area known as Parsi Mohalla, stands an edifice of importance, an Adaryan named as The Bai Pirojbai Manekjee Patel Vesu Adaryan Saheb, which was established in 1889.

On 23rd November 2017, the Parsi/Irani Zoroastrian Community of Vesu Village witnessed a rare spectacle after years. After the Ushahin Geh and the preparatory rituals by a band of 4 Ervad Sahebs under the tutelage of Dastur Faredoon Turel, in pitch darkness and pin drop silence, as ordained by religion, the Adaryan Saheb was shifted to a beautifully renovated area which was once a crumbling structure of the Kathi rooms. The main building will now be evaluated by structural engineers to decide on the future course of action to rehabilitate the Adaryan Building.

The Shapoorji Mistry family is credited with making this happen. They were represented by Shapoorji Pallonji Mistry and Cyrus Pallonji Mistry and their sons, Palon and Firoz, with a promise to take a lead in seeing the transformation of the Adaryan to last a few more decades and that the sanctity of the Adaryan would remain for the community. It would not be out of place to mention the continued efforts put in by the representatives of the office of Shapoorji Pallonji namely, Firoze Bhathena, the Daruvala Family and all others officers whose contributions were an essential part in the fulfilment of this monumental task.

Inputs from Minoo M. Patel, Managing Trustee of the fund, the Mehta Family, the Ichapporia Family, the Patalwala Family, The Vesu Parsi Association, well-wishers and the band of enthusiastic youngsters and devotees who joined in this community initiative.
