With the second wave of the pandemic wreaking havoc with lakhs of lives, a shortage of health facilities and equipment is the main dilemma in the nation today. Many states, including Maharashtra, are seeking help from the central government due to shortage of oxygen. Tata Steel has stepped in to help out with this fatal predicament and will be supplying up to 300 tonnes medical oxygen from its plants to hospitals for the treatment of Covid-19 patients, the company’s CEO and MD, T V Narendran said, while speaking at a virtual session of 6th National Leadership Conclave, organised by the All India Management Association (AIMA), on 19th April, 2021.
Tata Steel tweeted that it has started supplying 200-300 tonnes of oxygen medical oxygen to meet the demand in the country: “Medical oxygen is critical to the treatment of COVID19 patients. Responding to the National urgency, we’re supplying 200-300 tons of Liquid Medical Oxygen daily to various State governments and hospitals. We are in this fight together and will surely win it.”
