KCYA Celebrates Golden Jubilee

Established on 19th May, 1974, the Khareghat Colony Youth Association (KCYA), at Mumbai’s Hughes Road, marked its Golden Jubilee this year. Starting out with modest facilities like a single room in Parukh Dharamshala housing a table tennis table and a card table, lacking amenities for children and sports. But thanks to the initiative taken by Paeterasp Patel in forming the KCYA, and with the association’s early efforts supported by personalities including erstwhile Mayor of Bombay – Boman Behram, BPP Trustee Lady Hirabai Jehangir and Mithoo Petit, the KCYA grew popular for its diverse competitions (drama, cycling, table tennis, and carrom tournaments) across the Parsi community.

The association’s focus soon extended to promoting creative expression (elocution, dance, singing, acting, modelling) and healthcare, organising regular medical camps with support from Dr. Keki Mehta and establishment of the inhouse Dr. Nelie Rustomji Noble Medical Centre, with support from BPP Trustee Mahrukh Noble provides essential medical services to residents. KCYA also lends support via sponsorships for academic and humanitarian causes beyond community service, by extending help to victims of the Latur and Bhuj earthquake.

Here’s congratulating KCYA on its Golden Jubilee – may it continue its legacy of compassion and community service.
